Venice FC Miami becomes official Affiliate of Venezia FC

Venice FC Miami and Venezia FC Announce Affiliation

Relationship includes joint camps in Miami and training opportunities in Venice

MIAMI and VENICE, Italy — May 18, 2018 – Venice FC Miami an elite new youth academy based in Miami, Florida and Venezia FC, the historic professional club of Venice, Italy, today announced a relationship that will create unique training and development opportunities in both Miami and Venice, beginning with Tryouts to be held in Miami on June 4th-7th.

In the first week of June 2018, Venezia FC Board Member John Goldman and Director of International Projects and former Serie A Player; Paolo Poggi will join Venice FC Miami coaches in Miami to hold a tryout with the players born in 2004 through 2012 to join and train with Venice FC Miami. Summer training will be held twice per week starting June 12th through July 31st at Tropical Park East Soccer Field in Miami, Fl.

Beyond summer training, players will have the opportunity to join Venice FC Miami for the 2018 Fall and 2019 Spring season. This will provide players incredible training and game development as well as the chance to travel to Venice Italy and train with the official Venezia FC Youth Academy, considered one of the best in Italy. Members of Venice FC Miami will also be able to travel to the annual International Summer Camp in beautiful Venice, Italy.

In March 2018, Paolo Poggi Director of International Projects met with Joe Rotbart, President of Venice FC Miami and coaches to discuss the opportunity.

“It was clear that Venezia FC is focused on the technical and tactical development of young players and have built a pathway to becoming a professional that will benefit Venice FC Miami players,” said Rotbart. “The ability to partner with ambitious American business owners like Joe Tacopina and John Goldman who have an ambitious global vision for the club, I knew this was special. I also recognize how attractive Venice is for families and the opportunity to do both is something I had to be a part of. We have great coaches here but implementing the methodology from Venezia and giving players a “path to European football” has always been my dream.”

Venezia FC’s role in the affiliation with Venice FC Miami will be managed by Paolo Poggi, director of international projects, and John Goldman, Board Member of Venezia FC. Poggi is a former star player for Venezia FC and several other top Italian clubs, including Udinese, Torino, and Roma. Goldman is an investor and sits on the Board of Directors for Venezia FC.

“When I met with Joe Rotbart and learned about the coaching staff he built in Miami, we knew that there was a good foundation for a collaboration between Venice FC Miami and Venezia FC, because our fundamental approaches to training and development had important similarities,” said Poggi. “I’m excited to begin and to see growth in the players and the coaches.”

“As someone who frequently travels to South Florida for business, I’m very familiar with the potential of player development in Miami, and I’m very pleased that this collaboration can further advance that tradition and create exciting opportunities for young players in the area,” said Goldman.

Venice FC Miami is a Soccer Development Academy dedicated to developing South Florida’s elite level soccer talent while offering youth of all backgrounds the opportunity to play soccer in a committed environment. Venezia FC is celebrating the 110th anniversary of the club’s original founding in 1907.
